Fact Checking, Fake News and Evaluating Resources: Referencing Tips

Tools and tips for good search and information practices.

What is referencing?

Referencing allows you to legally use the work of other writers and researchers in your own writing, by acknowledging their work and ideas. There are many styles of reference. At Collarts we use the Monash University version of Harvard Referencing.

Accurate referencing is very important in all written work you will submit whilst studying. If you don't reference properly you may be liable for accusations of plagiarism. As a student at Collarts you will need to understand the general principles of reference and apply them when citing the sources you use.
